What is
trafficscope?
TrafficScope is a completely self-contained passive
collision avoidance system designed to indicate and alert
traffic within a proximity of your aircraft. The concept
is simple. If you know where aircraft are, you can avoid a
mid-air collision. See and avoid, the FAA calls it.
Once reserved for the privileged few, this technology is
now available for a general aviation aircraft at a
fraction of the price of similar units.
How does
trafficscope
Work?
The
new TrafficScope models contain the latest
third-generation TPAS™ (Traffic Proximity Alert System)
technology. TrafficScope listens for transponder replies
from all aircraft within the detection window and derives
altitude and range information on-the-fly. When target
aircraft are interrogated by ground radar or any other
active system, such as TCAS, the transponder responds with
range and altitude (Mode C) information.
TrafficScope also listens to your own transponder to
establish a base reference. Since virtually 100% of the US
and most outlying airspace falls within radar coverage,
aircraft can be detected with a great amount of certainty.
TrafficScope is mircoprocessor controlled and utilizes
menus to assist pilots in a aspects of fight.
Features Galore
Don't Let the Tiny Size Fool You
Both
TrafficScope units combine many advanced collision
avoidance technologies into one small package.
TrafficScope is truly a "Plug and Go" device with its own
antenna system and battery-operated design. For
installation, permanent installation assistance with FAA
form 337 and available mounting and installation kits are
available.
Altitude with Pinpoint Accuracy
TrafficScope VRX incudes an on-board altimeter to added
reference accuracy. Both the VR and VRX can be set up for
fight and ground mode operations.
TrafficScope Has the Connections
TrafficScope
is the only internal battery-powered device available, yet
can also be configured as an installed avionics package. A
small 2.5" stub antenna is included and mounts out of the
way on the rear of the unit. Connect your headset with the
included cable. If you have a power outlet, plug in using
the included power cable. Connect to your MFD through the
data port. Flying a pressurized aircraft? TrafficScope VRX
even incudes a pressure port to allow you to tie into a
static pressure line.
Detection Shield
TrafficScope
scans up to five nautical miles and allows the pilot to
scale the horizontal and vertical view of traffic
independently. TrafficScope utilizes TCAS-style
nomenclature to indicate the level of threat an aircraft
may pose, and will alert the pilot through audio messages.
